It’s raining. An abandoned parking lot with neat squares. A mobile snackbar. A few cars. A fence. Behind it the secured area of Schiphol’s runways. The fence acts like a border between the world of those that fly to adventure, and the world of those that stay behind. A couple of advanced years has been counting planes enthusiastically for years. But when the wife of the slightely senile man has an innocent liaison with the owner of the snackbar, her husband quietly takes off.
